What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver/Truck Operator position at PIPESTONE?
Objective:
- Manufacture and deliver high-quality feed that meets the expectations of our shareholders and producers.
Essential Functions:
- Perform a pre-trip check to ensure the safety of the vehicle.
- Safely operate a tandem axle feed truck or semi with trailer.
- Comply with Department of Transportation standards for electronic logbooks and maintain accurate logs for billing purposes.
Marginal Functions:
- Grind and manufacture complete feed.
- Assist in loading complete feed trucks and unloading ingredient trucks.
- Refill the micro table as needed.
- Operate a forklift to move pallets within and outside the warehouse.
Position Specifications
Education:
- High School Diploma
- Two-year degree preferred, but not required.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience in agriculture and heavy equipment transportation is preferred, but not necessary.
Work Environment:
- Operate a semi-tractor trailer combination during all seasons and times of day.
- Work in a feed mill environment, which may involve noise levels requiring hearing protection.
- Be subject to adverse weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand, walk, and be on feet for 8-10 hours per day.
- Frequently bend, reach, squat, and kneel.
- Frequently use one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull objects.
- Frequently lift objects weighing 3-20 pounds.
- Occasionally bend while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with assistance from another person, if needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work are required.
- A valid CDL is preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation/Benefits:
- $18-$25 per hour, depending on experience.
