OBJECTIVE :
Pipestone is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving logistical processes, reducing costs, and increasing efficiencies, all while ensuring exceptional service for our customers. This role requires a strong ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and take initiative to drive growth in our logistics operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)
- Coordinate transportation of feed ingredients, ensuring prompt, efficient, and cost-effective movements to meet customer needs and expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding freight status, delivery schedules, and arrival times.
- Reviews all purchase orders for accuracy
- Learn and utilize the Sage system to enter trucking purchase orders and confirm all freight costs.
- Communicate with order takers provide timely updates on shipment and delivery schedules.
- Generate and manage all required paperwork for vendors to ensure smooth pick-up coordination.
- Makes sure all orders are set up to customer specifications (do they need a pallet jack, driver assistance, etc)
- Efficiently file and follow up timely on all freight claims
- Partner with brokers, independent trucking companies, and LTL carriers to negotiate competitive freight rates, optimizing shipping volumes and routes.
- Audit freight invoices to ensure alignment with quoted prices .
- Manage distribution & shipment budgets
- Continuously evaluate and develop smoother, more efficient processes within the feed ingredient supply chain.
- Communicate weekly with team on logistical updates within the industry and nation wide
- Advanced computer skills including experience using software applications and Excel.
- Be willing to work beyond regular hours in emergency situations or to resolve urgent logistics issues.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education :
2 year administrative or agricultural degree
Experience :
At least 2 years or more coordinating FTL and LTL shipments with brokers and carriers to ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries.
Experience with reviewing, generating, and processing purchase orders and invoices
Skilled with logistics software and Excel
Experience working with a cross functional team to successfully meet customer needs and efficiently solve any problems that may arise
Work Environment :
Hybrid / Office setting (Pipestone, MN-Orange City, IA-Independence, IA-DeKalb, IL)
Physical Requirements :
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths and locations
Additional Requirements :
Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation to get to work and attend meetings
