What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Formulator position at Pipestone?
OBJECTIVE :
To work with pig producers across the Midwest for swine nutrition expertise, ingredient procurement and mill management services. Must be committed to providing high quality customer service, have exceptional communication skills, and be able to build relationships with the farmers we serve. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : ( other duties as assigned)
- Understand the basics of nutrition, feed ingredients, and feed budgets.
- Implement and verify diets with feed mills and update internal feed ordering system budgets and diets.
- Communicate effectively with feed mills, pig owners and suppliers for product orders and evaluate competitive pricing.
- Execute diets in concept 5 to meet diet specifications as directed by the formulation team.
- Work with nutritionists to understand customer needs and formulate accordingly.
- Attend ingredient supplier meetings to understand use in formulation.
- Assist with reporting of feed results to customers.
- Update ingredient availability and nutrient specifications as needed.
- Attention to detail and data integrity is imperative.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education :
Agricultural or administrative degree preferred
Experience :
Customer relations, livestock background and / or feed ingredients
Work Environment :
Office setting (Brandon, SD - Independence, IA - Orange City, IA)
Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit at a desk working on a computer for daily work
Additional Requirements :
Proficient in MS Office and Outlook
