What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hydro Tester position at Piping Technology & Products, Inc.?
Piping Technology and Products is seeking for a "hydro testing". Typically the hydro testing involves performing pressure tests on pipes, tanks, vessels, or other equipment using water to identify leaks or structural weaknesses by pressurizing the system and closely monitoring pressure gauges, often requiring the installation of fittings and careful observation to locate leak points, all while adhering to safety protocols and industry standards; essentially, a hydro tester uses water pressure to assess the integrity of various components by looking for signs of leakage.
Position Requirements:
• Able to perform Hydrostatic testing to pressurize the vessels through the use of water and air
• Able to perform pressure testing of pipes, pipe spools and vessels to expose possible leaks, and serve as a final validation of the vessel before proceeding to final assembly
• Good eye for detail to detect leaks coming from welded parts once pressurized. Use of soap and water is available
• Good understanding on how assembly works regarding closing vessels with blind flanges, gaskets, coupling plug, and bolting
• Good knowledge of how to use wrenches, pipe wrenches, grinders, impact wrenches, and any basic workshop tool
• Physically demanding, lots of moving around, bending over, lifting objects such as blind flanges, handing heavy duty impact wrenches
• High paced environment that can change shift from one job to another that becomes priority
Key responsibilities of a hydro tester may include:
• Setting up test procedures
• Operating pressure equipment
• Leak detection
• Data recording
• Compliance checks
• Reporting findings
Skills and qualifications for a hydro testing job:
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic plumbing principles
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures
• Ability to work in confined spaces and potentially physically demanding environments
• Basic computer skills for data recording
