Quality Inspector (Dimensional and NDE)

Reporting to the VP of manufacturing, the Quality Inspector will perform visual and dimensional inspections, conduct Penetrant Testing (PT) on welds. The following description is general; other duties may be assigned on an as-needed basis.

·         Note: Position is inspection of ASME pressure welded parts, pipe and bellows.

·         Familiar with welding, fabrication of Pressure Vessels helpful

·         Perform visual and dimensional inspections on rolled and welded components, in-process and final.  

·         Conducts and approves in-process production inspections such as verify raw material cut dimensions, weld fit up, welding, and coating.

·         Assist and conduct hydro testing   

·         Familiar with weld processes symbols and processes such as FCAW, GMAW, GTAW.

·         Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and generating a punch list and inputting data into quality database.

·         Must be able to use tape measurement in 1/32” increments.

·         Responsible for determining component acceptance.

·         Interface with shop personnel, customers and third party inspectors.

·         Ensure timely inspections are performed.

·         Able to read blueprints in English.

The following education, experience and knowledge are preferred for this position:

·         Experience with PT, UT, RT, MT, PMI

·         Two years of experience as a Quality Inspector

·         Experience as a fitter, welder or fabricator helpful.

·         General knowledge of AMSE and AWS codes, welding, fabrication and inspection processes.

·         Must be able to comprehend technical information, in English, both verbal and written.

·         Must have clear verbal and writing skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

·         Working conditions are 5-10% in an office environment and 90-95% in a shop/yard environment, as well as exposure to industrial machinery, welding and grinding.
