Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs machinery, process equipment, utilities equipment, process & facility physical structures, motors, electrical components, instrumentation, and pipe & piping components within the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Employs and promote safe work practices in compliance with OSHA and company policy
- Identifies hazards and protect yourself, other employees and the facility from hazards when installing, maintaining, or repairing systems
- Follows all health and safety guidelines instituted by the maintenance department
- Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as required by law and company policy
- Visually inspects and test machinery and process equipment
- Operates forklift, man lift and assorted hand tools including grinders, drill motors, power hack and band saws, pipe threader, and torches to fabricate or repair process or building components
- Uses diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot agitators, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment to detect malfunctions or pending failure
- Discusses machine operations with supervisors and other maintenance staff in formulating a maintenance or repair plan
- Responsible to layout, measure, cut, bend, thread, solder, and install conduit
- Cleans, lubricates, and replace shafts, bearings, gears, mechanical seals, and other parts of machinery
- Reads, interprets, and executes procedures related to calibration checks and adjustments of equipment including weigh scales, flow meters and instruments
- Able to read and interpret P&ID’s Capable of running wire for power, communication, and instrumentation.

- Computer skills, Word, Excel, & CMMS documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Understand valves, gages, and other process subassemblies to install new or repaired parts to maintain this equipment in a functional state
- Knowledge of Chiller, Boiler, and Air compressor operation
- Able to read and interpret Engineering drawings
- Able to layout electrical cabnits according to drawings Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational disposition
- Creative and able to present various solutions Ability to work independently as well as with a team
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED and one to three years related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Proficiency in calculating rates, ratios, and percentages
- Demonstrated experience in reading mechanical drawings, P&ID’s of process equipment Capable of using dial indicators, vernier calipers and other precision instruments used in millwright work
Physical Demands:
- Ability to frequently use keyboard use/repetitive hand motion
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to talk and hear
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds
- Must have good close vision, distance vision, and depth perception
- Must be comfortable working near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places Must be comfortable working in outside weather conditions for several hours at one time
General Oversight and Direction:
Receives moderate to limited supervision working from objectives set by Manager. Employee organizes and carries out most assignments in accordance with standard practices, instructions, or previous training. Employee handles some situations independently.
