Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Universal Banker I to join our team. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in banking. A Universal Banker I plays a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our clients while efficiently handling transactions, opening/closing accounts, and maintaining accurate records. This position requires strong cash management skills, basic math abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities
- Open new accounts (checking, savings, money markets, CDs) for customers
- Complete maintenance on existing accounts as requested by customers
- Process customer transactions including, but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments accurately and efficiently.
- Provide information about bank products and services to customers, assisting them with their financial needs and queries regarding bank products and services in a timely manner.
- Assist customer with services such as ATM/Debit cards, online banking, telephone banking, ACH transactions, and more.
- Assist on the teller line when needed by maintaining cash drawer accuracy and perform regular cash management tasks, including balancing the drawer at the end of each shift.
- Work with other Universal Bankers, Tellers, and other Bank personnel to provide overall exceptional service to customers.
- Utilize basic math skills for transaction processing and ensure all calculations are correct.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the overall operations of the Bank.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working at a financial institution in a customer service role
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Proficiency in basic math, computer-use, and typing for accurate transaction processing and learning new software.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience handling cash registers or similar cash management systems is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English, to effectively interact with customers and team members.
- Dependable in-person attendance.
