Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Front Office Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office by providing administrative support and assisting with various tasks related to patient care and office management. This position requires strong organizational skills, experience with insurance verification processes and scheduling and referrals to ancillary services/facilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient scheduling and appointments, ensuring efficient use of clinic resources.
- Collect copayments and any other applicable payments at the point of service.
- Perform insurance verification to confirm patient coverage and eligibility for services.
- Obtain prior authorizations for patient testing and referrals as needed.
- Maintain patient records in compliance with privacy regulations and clinic policies.
- Provide administrative support, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and managing correspondence.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate patient care and communication.
- Ensure the medical office is organized and well-maintained, contributing to a professional environment.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Assist with administrative duties in the office, including but not limited to scanning medical records and faxing correspondence.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Experience with insurance verification processes is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.60 - $16.46 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
