At Piston Automotive, the Ink Room Operations and Lab Specialist will be responsible for producing specialized catalytic inks for use in fuel cells. This role will also support lab operations and quality analysis to meet production requirements. These specialists work in controlled environments such as clean rooms, where they apply their technical skills to blend and prepare ink formulations and maintain high-quality standards. Key responsibilities include calculating material quantities, documenting preparation processes, performing ink solution analysis, and troubleshooting equipment. Additionally, they collaborate closely with manufacturing engineering teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Specialists must also maintain a well-organized workspace, adhere to strict safety protocols, and demonstrate proficiency in operating technical equipment and using computer software systems.

- Set up and operate solvent and powder process equipment, ensuring process details are meticulously followed.
- Document preparation processes, review process sheets, perform ink solution analysis, and suggest improvements.
- Maintain workplace organization standards, adhere to safety protocols, and participate in safety audits.
- Working on large-scale ink
- Documenting preparation methods and process variables
- Reviewing and suggesting improvements to process sheets and work instructions
- Produce ink using specified recipes under precise condiitions.
- Calculate material quantities for formulations and assist with ink preparation.
- Performing analysis of ink solutions to ensure quality
- Monitoring and troubleshooting ink-related issues
- Participating in safety-related audits and improvements and adhering to safety processes and policies
- A 2-year completed associate’s degree or Technical Degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of technical experience in a manufacturing facility.
- Ability to multitask in a flexible environment and communicate effectively with engineers.
- Experience with continuous improvement processes and troubleshooting electrical, fluid, and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with lab equipment and methods
- Chemistry or related field degree
- Knowledge in or around fuel cell development
