SECURITY GUARD

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, is responsible to patrol areas of buildings, parking lots, and grounds to assure security and prevent damage to or loss of company and employee property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Patrol plant and grounds to ensure security; observes conditions that could result in injury or loss due to fire, water leakage, spills etc.

2. Ensures company parking policy is enforced daily

3. Reports to Security Supervisor any unusual or suspicious conditions detected.

4. Guards’ employee entrances during arrival and departure of employees at beginning and end of shifts.

5. Assists management in the enforcement of Plant policies and procedures.

6. Observe visitors’ activities.

7. Reports to Plant Manager any incidence of visitor, driver, or employee actions which could result in injury or loss to company or employees.

8. Ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed in production areas of the Plant.

9. Assist the Safety Department by ensuring a safe working environment and monitoring any safety violations.

10. Maintain up-to-date detailed records.

11. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Demonstrated ability to work well with others.

2. Self-motivated; ability to function without continuous supervision; monitor own breaks and lunches.

3. Ability to lift and properly move at least 50 lbs.

4. Exercise good judgment at all times.

5. Exercise diplomacy while enforcing Plant policies and procedures.

6. Ability to work safely and report safety hazards.

7. Knowledge of Emergency Evacuation Plan. Understand evacuation routes by department and be prepared to assist management in the event of an emergency.

8. Knowledge of Safety and Hazardous Communication Programs.

9. Ability to walk great distances while touring company property.

10. Communicate effectively both orally and in written form.

11. Demonstrate appropriate conduct, appearance, and quality use of time.

12. Knowledge of scales and computers.

13. Willing to have a flexible schedule, which may include working evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Able to pass background check

2. Prior experience in the enforcement/security field.

3. Preferable bilingual English/Spanish
