Primary Purpose of Position: The primary purpose of this position is to supervise those cases where there has been a substantiation or finding of in need of services due to child abuse, neglect, and/or dependency and there is a need for In-Home Services. The CPS In-Home Services unit consists of five Social Worker I/A&T positions that provide services to families that have been substantiated or found in need of services for child abuse, neglect and/or dependency. This unit is specialized in that the Social Worker I/A&T's primary function is to assess the continued need for Child Protective Services and provide the necessary instruction/guidance/mentoring/modeling to the family on strategies to improve the parenting and strengthening of family skills, in order to resolve the issues that resulted in the substantiation or a finding of services needed of abuse, neglect and/or dependency.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
