Summary:
Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met, and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of NCDPI and PCS. Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Health Sciences Education- Nursing Fundamentals; assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.
Essential Duties
Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based CTE program in Health Science/Nursing Fundamentals curriculum.
Provides the bridge needed by all students to deal with major societal issues such as work-and-family, health care, child and elder care, family and community violence and crime, global economics and politics, and technology usage.
Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management
Assist in coordination of CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state and/or national competition
Participates in field trips to post-secondary institutes, worksites, businesses and hands-on workshops
Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative business and technology program
Develop community and industry partnerships for students
Students develop personal effectiveness and industry-relevant technical skills as they explore and pursue career pathways aligned to the Family and Consumer Sciences National Standards.
This position is specific to:
Nursing Fundamentals- requires an RN degree
Terms of Employment: 10 months
Required Degree Level: Bachelor’s or Associate or Diploma (3-year program)
Examples of Related Degrees: Nursing
Required Years of Work Experience for the CTE Restricted route: 2 years
Examples of Related Work Experience: active clinical nurse in long term care, Assisted Living, Home care, hospital, physician’s office, public health departments, outpatient to include clinics and surgical facilities, post-secondary nursing instruction if clinical instruction is included in responsibilities
Credentials Prior to hire/teaching
Unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse and completed a course in teaching adults, or experience teaching adults, or experience in supervising nurse aides
