Job Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Exceptional Children’s Teacher Assistant to join our team. The EC TA will work under the direction of an Exceptional Children’s Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. This role requires patience, adaptability, and a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized or small group support to students, helping them access the curriculum and meet their educational goals.
- Assist with implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress as directed by the lead teacher.
- Help with classroom organization, preparing learning materials, and adapting resources to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
- Support students with daily activities, including academics, social skills, and self-care tasks (e.g., feeding, toileting, mobility) as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and success.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet students' unique needs.
- Assist with classroom and behavior management, using strategies outlined by the teacher or behavior specialist.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and behavior.
- Attend professional development sessions and team meetings as required.
