JOB TITLE: AIRPORT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor by performing technical and skilled work of aviation and non-aviation common equipment such as tractors, mowers, fire-fighting, and related equipment. Involved with construction projects at the Pitt-Greenville Airport; performs related work as required. Provide courteous service to at all times when dealing with tenants, co-workers, transient customers or when dealing with anyone. This includes phone and radio discussions. Perform maintenance work assignments aa directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Come to work as scheduled in working condition.
· Maintain a positive attitude.
· Be flexible about working hours and work overtime on some occasions at the Maintenance Supervisors request.
· Provide input to your supervisor concerning any maintenance equipment or supply issues.
· Assist with plumbing.
· Assist with electrical systems.
· Assist with HVAC systems.
· Assist with airfield lights and navigational controls.
· Assist with all mobile airport equipment.
· Assist with all airport fencing and gates.
· Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in training employees on proper use of mowers and all other mowing equipment.
· Assist with maintaining snow removal equipment.
· Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with training all snow removal team members each October.
· Assist the Maintenance Supervisor to generate a maintenance plan for preventive maintenance on all equipment keeping it updated. Maintain records of these actions available for review.
· In general the Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with repairs and maintenance of every item at this airport which are too numerous to list. It will be the judgement of the Maintenance Foreman and Operations Manager to decide if and when outside resources will be contracted to perform duties we are unable to perform. Airport Management will explain to you any duties not yet listed in this job description.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Have a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Must have (2) years’ work experience in performing maintenance at industrial/commercial facilities is particularly desired.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED
TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the ability to climb and maneuver on stairs, scaffolding, and/or in tight spaces. Must be able to perform in varying weather conditions. Position may require work in temperatures exceeding (100 degrees F) in the summer and below freezing (32 degrees F) in the winter.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to coworkers and assistants.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read correspondence, reports, work orders, forms, manuals, diagrams, architectural drawings, etc. Requires the ability to prepare a variety of correspondence reports and forms. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical of diagrammatic form; deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages.
Color Differentiation: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.

Leadership: Requires ability to lead the airport maintenance staff and to provide performance evaluations both periodically and as needed. Coaches staff to ensure a clear understanding of organizational objectives in pursuit of an efficient and effective organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of airport building, and field maintenance equipment techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of airfield construction techniques.
- Knowledge of airfield lighting and how to repair.
- Knowledge of mowing and snow removal procedures and equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable FAA regulations governing these activities.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of duties performed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license appropriate to the vehicle(s) which will be operated. All licenses must be obtained at the expense of the employee. Must be able to meet and maintain vehicle insurability with the Pitt-Greenville Airport. Must be available to be on emergency call 24 hours a day as necessary. Must be able to pass an FBI Criminal History background investigation, and pass a drug screening test.
Must be able to wear proper safety equipment as determined by the Operations Manager in accordance with established OSHA regulations.

Pay: $18.04 per hour
