The School of Automotive & Engineering Technology at Pittsburg State University is seeking applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor to teach in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program. This is a 9-month, non-tenure earning appointment with an annual renewal based upon performance. Must be available to teach courses on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching: 70%
- Instruct 9-12 credit hours per semester/18-24 credit hours per Academic Year as assigned in the areas of undergraduate and graduate manufacturing.
Service: 20%
- Responsible for Masters of Engineering Technology activities such as recruitment, advisement, and curriculum development
- Engage in departmental and institutional service, such as committee work, participate in faculty meetings, and support of departmental events or initiatives.
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment
Professional Development: 5%
- Attend professional development events to stay current with education and industry trends.
- Maintain industry relationships and professional society memberships.
Student Mentorship: 5%
- Serve as academic mentor to students
- Assist students with projects as needed.
Education and Experience
Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire
- Masters in an Engineering Technology discipline, or a related field of study
- Three years of industry experience in manufacturing or related business experience
Preferred Education and Experience –
- Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology
- One year of teaching experience
- Professional certifications
- Experience in additive manufacturing, manufacturing processes such as Lean, 5-S, Six-Sigma, Project Management and others.
