What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Instructional Professor, School of Construction position at Pittsburg State University Career Site Minimal?
The School of Construction at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor to teach in the Environmental and Safety Program. The position is renewable on an annual basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruction of students-teaching 12 hrs. per semester and having appropriate office hours
- Confer with students outside of class as needed.
- Evaluate and assess student performance.
- Create appropriate evaluations and examinations.
- Engagement in service activities.
- Help with student recruiting activities
- The ability to keep accurate records.
- The ability to work with students.
- Collaborate with other faculty members.
- Ability to develop curriculum.
Education and Experience
Required Education and Experience – Time of Hire
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Management or a related field from a regionally accredited University
- A master’s degree in Safety or related field, from a regionally accredited University.
- At least 5 years of industry experience related to safety.
- OSHA Outreach trainer or ability to get
- Demonstrated computer literacy: Internet and Microsoft Office.
- Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal.
Preferred Education and Experience –
- 10 years of industry experience related to safety or Doctorate in Safety or related field.
- Certifications such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Board of Certified Safety Professionals, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Board of Certified Safety Professionals, Certified Public Manager (CPM), or OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer.
- Knowledge/Experience with risk management, insurance and worker compensation.
