The Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) is seeking a qualified and dedicated Math Instructor to join our faculty at our Hagerstown Branch Campus. This role involves instructing adult learners in fundamental scientific concepts and mathematical principles, with a focus on real-world application within the aviation industry. This position is a Hourly Non-Exempt position.
Math Instructor Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Physical Science (or similar), Mathematics or preferred
- Basic Electricity Training experience preferred
- Three (3) or more years of work experience in the applicable subject area OR Bachelor’s degree in Education with Physics, Science, Mathematics, or other relevant secondary level teaching certification
- Interest in introducing adult students to basic, fundamental scientific concepts and math skills and applying them in a real-world setting
- Verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarization with computers for word processing, databases, e-mail, and internet use
Math Instructor Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured and comprehensive instruction in Physics, Physical Science, and Mathematics.
- Prepare, organize, and manage classroom and laboratory environments to support effective learning.
- Develop, assign, and evaluate projects and assignments to assess student comprehension.
- Provide individualized academic support to promote student achievement.
- Engage in professional development activities and participate in institutional events as required.
