POSITION TITLE
Student Support Services Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Pittsburgh Public Schools employs over 4,000 individuals in various capacities to support the academic achievement and strength of character of the students we serve.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent – Student Support Services the Student Support Services Assistant is responsible for the coordinating and implementing the appropriate processes of the drug and alcohol diversion program, open enrollments, bully packets, and work permits. The Student Support Services Assistant will assist with operational activities within the Student Support Services Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assist with and implement the operational aspects of student services including but not limited to processing work permits, open enrollment, and bully packets while ensuring that schools are in compliance with requirements.
2. Assist students and families in completing the work permit process while ensuring all data entry and processing is completed for work permits.
3.Work closely with school principals to acquire the grade levels for open enrollment slots.
4. Coordinate with Principals to ensure that open enrollment advertisement is occurring properly with the Communication Team.
5. Receive and review bully packets from school leaders to ensure that mandatory components are accurately completed; follow up as required.
6. Serve as the Liaison for the Drug and Alcohol program ensuring that proper paperwork is acquired, classes are scheduled for students, course completion is tracked, and communication is sent to student/family and school administrators regarding student’s progress or lack of progress.
7. Develop, document, and enhance processes and forms that are relevant to the efficient and effective operations of the work permits, open enrollment, and bully packets processes.
8. Assist in running reports, entering data, and monitoring information that supports Student Support Services.
9. Attend PS6/Magnet meetings and assist as needed.
10.Serve as a backup to code McKinney Vento enrollments, 504 plans, and foster care processing.
11.Serve as the backup for timekeeping, purchasing, and Let's Talk administration.
12. Receives and responds to student support services inquiries in a responsive, customer-focused manner, providing comprehensive information and advice.
13. Organize and maintain paper, video, and electronic files.
14. Provide seasonal support for the Student Support Services department during high volume times to include but not be limited to Magnet Fair, SFA Summit, Summer BOOST, Athletics, ELECT program., departmental projects.
15. Participate in departmental, team, and individual planning and goal- setting.
16. Communicate effectively and confidentially at all levels, over the phone, face-to-face, and electronically.
17. Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department’s goals and objectives and the District’s mission and strategic plan.
