POSITION TITLE
CTE Career Counselor, 2024-25 School Year
Job Description Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director of the CTE Program the CTE Career Counselor is responsible for supporting all activities necessary to achieve Perkins 1S1 Grad Cohort and 5S4 Skill Attainment indicators by developing on-going career plans focused on CTE students' industry certification and career interests; assisting in NOCTI exam administration; collaborating with academic counselors to align academic courses with CTE scope and sequence; cooperating with PSE staff to assist in special populations in HPOs; and assisting students in the creation and maintenance of career portfolios.
The counselor will also support all activities necessary to achieve Perkins Indicator 3S1 Follow-Up Survey by helping students maximize their post-secondary marketability. The counselor will assist with recruitment for CTE programs with an emphasis on non-traditional students to improve the Perkins Indicator 4S1 Non-traditional program concentration
This position educates, assesses, and provides intervention, referral, and support to students and/or their families regarding identified needs. Additionally, the Counselor collaborates with parents, teachers, community organizations and other stakeholders to ensure students' success.

Essential Functions
- Collect and review Career Objective Forms for all Career and Technical Education students.
- Conduct recruiting presentations and activities to increase student enrollment in Career and Technical Education programs.
- Assist with NOCTI and other PDE approved assessment exams for Career and Technical Education students.
- Assist teachers in organizing career-related field trips and activities.
- Develop and teach career-oriented lessons to CTE program classes.
- Work with academic counselors to ensure that CTE program students are career ready and post-secondary prepared.
- Assist Career and Technical Education programs teachers who are participating in IEP meetings.
- Conduct mock job interviews.
- Arrange and supervise placement activities for secondary Career and Technical Education students and special education students.
- Prepare monthly placement reports for local, state, and federal purposes.
- Maintain appropriate student records, reports, and schedules.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Complete follow-up studies.
- Research and analyze CTE dropout rates, completion rates, non-traditional participation and completion.
- Determine interventions to improve program completion rates.
- Research graduation rates of CTE students.
- Development of effective electronic portfolios/career plans and conducting workshops on: resume writing, interviewing, job search, SAT/ACT preparation, financing post-secondary education.
- Coordinate transportation for CTE students who travel for their programs.
- Develop connections to postsecondary education and business/industry to improve placement numbers.
- Plan activities to increase the number of non-traditional students in each CTE program.
- Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals. Develop and implements comprehensive counseling services and programs for students and families by utilizing data to ensure that students are learning academically, developing strong character and gaining skills that prepare them for college and career.

- Familiarity with Career Development course offerings and recommended coherent sequences of courses
- Experiences in analyzing data and assessing student' needs to inform work and develop and implement procedures and programs to support student achievement.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods, and procedures for the following: diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, career counseling/guidance, curriculum and training design, individual/group teaching and instruction, evaluation of trainings.
- Knowledge of Section 504 including IEP Processes, assessments, emotional needs of students, applicable federal/state laws and regulations, mandates related to mental health services and Special Education programs.
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, families, students, and school personnel to coordinate resources for students and families.
- Strong Technology Skills
- Experience in strategic planning and implementation of counseling services and programs.
- Ability to foster and promote innovation.
