POSITION TITLE
Substitute Paraprofessional, 2024-25
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Substitute Paraprofessional is directly supervised by the Office of Human Resources and School Leaders and is responsible for providing educational support within the classroom and throughout the entire school. Substitute paraprofessionals work closely with teachers to provide learning, autistic, multiple disabilities, and life skills support to students. Substitute Paraprofessionals have the flexibility to work 5 days a week or as often as they like. They determine their work schedule by selecting assignments daily through an online system called Frontline Absence Management. The workday varies per school configuration and consists of up to 7.5 hours; including 30-minute lunch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Substitute Paraprofessional Positions:
1. Educational Assistant I’s (EAI) assists the classroom teacher in carrying out the school goals and policies, as well as the objectives of the curriculum. Additionally, they support the school in monitoring classrooms and supporting activities.
2. Special Education Paraprofessionals (Classroom Assistant, Educational Assistant III and IV) provide support to students within the Program for Students with Exceptionalities. These positions support the teacher regarding the instruction, supervision and tracking of student progress and individualized education plan (IEP).
3. Early Childhood Assistants IIA and IIB assist and support the classroom teacher in carrying out an educational program which prepares the children for school readiness.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Follow the lesson plan(s) or assignment left by absent paraprofessional and ensure students complete all assigned tasks.
2. Maintain a safe environment.
3. Use materials provided by absent paraprofessional or other school personnel.
4. Notify school administration of any unusual incidents which have occurred during the school day.
5. Maintain accurate assessment of student attendance and data.
6. Leave information concerning the day's activities for the paraprofessional
7. Communicate effectively with students and staff.
8. Manage student behavior in a positive manner.
9. Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the school goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.
