POSITION TITLE
Early Intervention Occupational Therapy Assistant
Job Description Summary
The Early Intervention Occupational Therapy Assistant is directly supervised by the supervising licensed Occupational Therapist and Program Administrator of Early Intervention or designee and is responsible for providing occupational therapy services in early care or educational setting to eligible children under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, following a treatment plan developed by the Occupational Therapist to improve, develop, restore or maintain child's active participation in educational activities, and functioning as “related service personnel” under state and federal law and regulations.

Provides Occupational Therapy services delegated and supervised by a licensed Occupational Therapist. Services will be provided under close or general supervision depending on educational experience and service competency.
Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant Associates Degree program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Certification/Licensure Required
Varies based on the needs of the supervisor

Essential Functions
Provides Occupational Therapy services delegated and supervised by a licensed Occupational Therapist. Services will be provided under close or general supervision depending on educational experience and service competency.
- Implements all OCDEL requirements
- Assists with data collection, assessment and evaluation
- Travels to the early care and educational setting to provide direct and/or consultative services according to the child's IEP goals developed by the Occupational Therapist
- Recommends treatment modifications to the Occupational Therapist based on the child's needs
- Adapts environments, tools, materials and activities according to the child's needs
- Collaborates with other team members, preschool personnel, and families regarding the child's occupational therapy related needs
- Maintains equipment and supply inventory for children on their caseload
- Maintains records and documentation as required
- Supports children through integrated therapy in an inclusive setting when the needed skill is naturally occurring within the typical routines of the day
- Other responsibilities may include working under the direction of the teachers ( as a paraeducator) providing general classroom assistance by preparing and implementing activities, lunch, bathroom duties, recess and any other duties required as part of the classroom team so the children may fully participate in their educational environment.
- Clerical tasks at the central office
- Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.
Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant Associates Degree program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Certification/Licensure Required
- Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in Pennsylvania
- Must be supervised by a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist who is responsible for evaluations, re-evaluations and changes in the program
- Certification through National Board (NBCOT)
- Must maintain 36 PDU's every 3 years
