Job Description Summary
Under the immediate direction of the teacher, the position of Educational Assistant IIIA is responsible for the supervision and instruction of ESL (English as a Second Language) students. The ESL Educational Assistant III will support instructional activities in both the ESL classroom and mainstream, as appropriate, with teacher guidance. Written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish is a prerequisite for this position.

Job Description Summary

The ESL Educational Assistant III will support instructional activities in both the ESL classroom and mainstream, as appropriate, with teacher guidance. WORK MONTHS
10 Months
Essential Functions
- Supervises and assists students in the completion of their assignments.
- Monitors students in the classroom, at lunch, and at recess, as well as in transit from one area to another.
- Assists with the implementation of the individual educational plans (IEP) and behavior management plans for each student.
- Assists in development and evaluation of educational materials.
- Assists in completion of all clerical duties.
- Assists with student transportation, such as meeting a cab outside.
- Assists in the maintenance and care of equipment.
- Assists in the manipulation of instructional materials.
- Assists on fields trips.
- Assists in keeping students clean.
- Assists students with toilet needs, feeding, and in physical movement.
- High School Diploma or GED (General Education Development)
- Pennsylvania Department of Education Instructional Certification in required subject area.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and speak the designated language fluently
- Experience working with students where English is their second language, specifically Spanish, is preferred.
- Vocational experience in an urban setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with various student assistive devices is also preferred.
- Performing Administrative Activities: Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
- Technical Proficiency: The ability and willingness to exhibit competency in the technical areas needed to do a specific job.
- Organizational Ability: The ability and willingness to organize and utilize resources to achieve results.
- Workflow Management: The ability and willingness to perform work within defined specifications and timelines and to manage conflicting priorities.
- Stakeholder Relations: The ability and willingness to interact and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
