POSITION TITLE
Substitute - Speech Language Pathologist
Job Description Summary
The Day-to-Day Substitute Professional directly supervised by the Office of Human Resources and School Leaders and is responsible for instructing and providing support to students during the absence of a regular school-based professional. Substitutes are expected to maintain a professional attitude toward their work and support the mission and goals of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. We are looking for day-to-day substitutes who are available to instruct and provide support in our schools any day of the week.
The Program for Students with Exceptionalities (PSE) provides supports and services to students with disabilities in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. PSE believes that every student should be educated in the least restrictive environment where a full continuum of supplementary aids and services are available to meet their individual needs in order to achieve their full potential, academically, socially and emotionally and vocationally. This support is provided to students as close as possible to the neighborhood in which students live. PSE seeks individuals who are smart, passionate about supporting and advocating for students with disabilities, and committed and dedicated to the students, families and school communities of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Top candidates will have demonstrated a record of commitment in making a difference in the lives of students with disabilities in an urban setting.
The speech and language pathologist is responsible for providing services to students in grades K-12 in various schools throughout the district.
We are committed to hiring a diverse and talented workforce, and we consider substitutes in our District to be a valuable part of our pipeline for permanent positions. Once the application has been submitted, you will be sent instructions to complete the New Hire Paperwork within 3 business days.
Our Substitute positions do not require interviews. Within two business days of completing the application, will send you New Hire Paperwork to begin working on.

Salary Information
Teacher, Counselor, or Social Worker:
$120 a day, then $136 a day for substitutes who have worked at least forty (40) days during each of the preceding two (2) consecutive semesters. This rate, once achieved, will be retained for the duration of employment as an active substitute.
This position will qualify to make $4248/month after working forty (40) consecutive days in the same professional's absence or vacancy.

- Attends and participates in team meetings.
- Provides therapy to students in grades K-12 in various schools throughout the district, in accordance with IEP.
- Develops and administers informal assessments for students.
- Conducts standardized testing to screen and evaluate students.
- Maintains progress monitoring data to share with families, students, and team members.
- Writes evaluation and reevaluation reports, IEPs, progress reports.
- Completes medical ACCESS billing.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Participates in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
- Collaborates and consults with teachers, families, related service providers, and other professionals.
- Supports use of augmentative and alternative communication systems with students.
- Maintains a safe environment for students.
- May need to travel to multiple sites within the day via car
- Manage student behavior in a positive manner.
- Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals.
