Middle School Math Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Full-time Classroom Teacher - Middle School Math

• Understand and embrace the Educational Approach at Pittsburgh Urban Christian School
• Develop integral curriculum based on a Biblical worldview, utilizing excellent teaching technique to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school’s educational approach
• Implement curriculum and instruction in a manner consistent with Pittsburgh Urban Christian School’s mission, including understanding, modeling, and fostering independent thinking skills, creative problem solving, and abstract reasoning
• Employ a variety of instructional methods and materials to provide creative teaching for students with diverse needs.
• Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence according to curriculum guidelines specified by Pittsburgh Urban Christian School
• Engage Responsive Classroom/Developmental Designs style classroom management to maintain a positive learning environment
• Use homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment, and project work
• Assess student performance on a regular basis and provide progress reports, portfolios, parent/teacher conferences and other methods of feedback.
• Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with parents and students based on mutual respect and objectivity.  
• Cooperate with the board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors’ or advanced degree from an accredited institution; successful completion of a student teaching experience strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Pennsylvania Instructional Level I or II or equivalent certification preferred, current criminal record, FBI fingerprint and child abuse clearances required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $32,000-$48,000, commensurate with education and professional experience.

Individual health, dental and vision insurance is available to all full-time classroom teachers.
