What are the responsibilities and job description for the Literacy Coach position at Pittsfield Public Schools?
The teacher is the district's primary agent for instruction with responsibility for presenting the prescribed curriculum effectively and employing a diagnostic / prescriptive approach to identification and subsequent adaptation to the needs and interests of the students.
The duties commonly associated with the position include but are not limited to :
- maintaining up-to-date knowledge of curriculum content
- planning and assessment of instruction and curriculum
- maintaining classroom management
- planning and delivering effective instruction
- promoting high standards and expectations for student achievement
- communicating with students, parents, and other district employees to work on behalf of students
- promoting equity and appreciation of diversity
Job Requirements
Anticipated position.
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
MA DESE Certification Elementary 1-6.
Experience working with students and staff in a diverse, urban educational setting; ability to work in a collaborative teaching and learning environment and have a continuous learning mindset.
Knowledge of Into Reading curriculum and early reading skills; excellent classroom management skills; strong communication skills; ability to use data to plan for, assess and modify instruction.
