POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Preschool Program Coordinator
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Support Services
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month Contract
FOCUS: Provide leadership, administration, and supervision of the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) preschool programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Experience in early childhood and/or preschool settings
- Post-graduate licensure in Early Childhood Education and/or Preschool-Level Endorsement
PREFERRED:
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood, or related field
- Administrative & Supervision Endorsement
- Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Endorsement
- Certification in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Administration & Supervision
- Oversee all administrative functions of the division's preschool programs, including Excel4, Wee3, LEAP, and S.T.A.R.
- Stay informed of current trends, methods, programs, and materials in high-quality preschool education
- Manage Family Service Coordination staff (full-time and part-time) and family engagement activities at all elementary schools
- Ensure compliance with all VPI program requirements, including grant applications and budget oversight
Coordination & Collaboration
- Manage the annual preschool application and enrollment process, including mandated Coordinated Enrollment with Head Start
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, school division staff, and community agency partners
- Possess and utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Perform other duties, as assigned, by the Assistant Superintendent for Support Services
