Paralegal – Pitzer Snodgrass
Pitzer Snodgrass is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential legal support to our attorneys, assisting with case preparation, document drafting, legal research, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the U.S. legal system and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys throughout the litigation process, with a primary focus on discovery and trial preparation.
- Request, review, analyze, and summarize medical, financial, employment, education, environmental, social security, workers' compensation, and other case-related records.
- Prepare indices of depositions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Locate witnesses, take witness statements, and interact with expert witnesses.
- Schedule depositions and prepare affidavits and subpoenas.
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other resources.
- Organize and label documents for review, including redaction of sensitive information.
- Utilize software to create exhibits such as graphs, timelines, and charts.
- Serve as a liaison to courthouses, making phone calls and visits as needed.
- Prepare trial notebooks and assist attorneys throughout the trial process.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in legal terminology and case management.
- Experience with e-filing court documents in state and federal courts (e.g., CaseNet and PACER).
- Knowledge of requesting crash reports and obtaining records through CIOX.
- Familiarity with civil litigation procedures, including interrogatories and discovery.
- Experience working in a courthouse setting (e.g., requesting court files and documents).
- Strong file management, organization, and document handling skills.
- High level of initiative, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
Education & Experience
- B.S./B.A. in Legal Studies or a B.S./B.A. with a paralegal certificate (or equivalent experience).
- Litigation and trial preparation experience is a plus.
