JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Advancement Team, the Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for leading the
development and execution of strategies to foster impactful connections between alumni and friends of Pius
X, encompassing events, fundraising, communications, and volunteer programs. The Director of Alumni
Engagement will use data-driven approaches, working effectively with alumni, volunteers, board members,
administrators, faculty and friends of Pius X to advance the mission of the Pius X Foundation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Alumni Engagement (45%)
o Develop and Maintain Alumni Programs: Create, implement and refine strategies to
engage, recognize, and steward alumni with goal-aligned events and programs (e.g.
reunions; awards, Masses, fundraisers and sporting activities; mentorship program; speaker
series) that are successfully implemented and continuously analyzed for effectiveness.
o Volunteer Management: Collaborate with volunteer coordinator to recruit, train, and
manage volunteers.
o Committee Oversight and Participation: Responsible for directing and engaging the Alumni
Committee, and serve as an active participant of various other committees (e.g. Hall of
Fame, Fun Run, Catholic Schools Week, etc.).
o Communication and Outreach: Develop and implement interactive communication
strategies to keep alumni informed and engaged, including managing various
communication channels (e.g. social media, email) and compiling alumni updates to share in
Pius X publications.
Fundraising (45%):
o Inspire Donations: Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from alumni and other
potential donors (e.g. event sponsors).
o Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with alumni, volunteers, and
other stakeholders; maintain portfolio of constituents as relationship manager.
o Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze engagement data to identify trends, measure
effectiveness, and inform future strategies.
o Data Management: Proactively maintain and utilize databases and other tools to track
engagement and alumni information.
o Prospect Research: Use research and analysis tools to develop and qualify prospect lists.
Team Support (10%)
o Event support: Attend and assist the team with annual events such as BOLT, Grandparents
Day, Founders and Friends Reception, etc.
o Advancement Office Support: Takes initiative as a team player with a “client first” attitude
regarding activities of the Pius X Foundation, including answering phones, fielding questions,
scheduling meetings, and assisting with other tasks.
o Other: Carries out other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
- Passion for the Pius X community and engaging with alumni of all ages.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office/Office 365 and Social Media tools.
- Experience with other relevant software and tools is helpful (e.g., Raisers Edge, Canva, email and text marketing platforms).
- Ability to identify and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- A graduate of Pius X High School is strongly preferred.
- Three or more years of related experience in alumni relations, advancement, sales, marketing, or event management are preferred.
- Proven ability to plan and execute successful events.
- Be a committed Catholic who is active in his or her parish, the Lincoln Catholic community, the Pius X family, and the city of Lincoln.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexible schedule including occasional weekends and evenings; this position works year-round.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Strong belief in Catholic education and ability to support the mission of Pius X High School and the Pius X Foundation needed.
- Must be able to stoop, sit, stand, push, pull, and stretch consistent with an office environment.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computer, telephone, fax machine etc. in conjunction with administrative duties; and must possess a valid driver’s license in order to attend meetings and conferences as appropriate as well as for travel both locally and nationally.
