Job Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse Specialist coordinates healthcare services for employees, overseeing the evaluation and management of workplace injuries and illnesses. This includes assessing medical conditions, developing treatment plans, and communicating with employees and key stakeholders regarding health-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Treats acute occupational injuries and illnesses
- Performs drug tests, hearing tests, pulmonary function tests, and fit tests
- Responds to medical emergencies and initiates emergency care as needed
- Develops and implements health and wellness programs to promote employee health and safety
- Maintains accurate records of employee health information, including medical histories and treatment plans
- Assures compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations, including hearing conservation, blood-borne pathogen training, and random drug screening
- Coordinates return-to-work and light-duty assignments for employees with work-related injuries or illnesses
Requirements
- Valid state license as a registered nurse
- 3 years of nursing experience, with 2 years in occupational health
- On-site occupational health experience preferred
- Certified in CPR/AED/First Aid
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and key stakeholders
- Strong administrative and management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
