Pivot, a not-for-profit agency dedicated to reducing the negative impact of alcohol and other drug abuse and addictions in our community through prevention, education, and advocacy is seeking a full-time Prevention Counselor/Educator to administer the SBIRT-WISE (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment & Wellness Initiative for Senior Education) Program to older citizens of Jefferson County. The overall duties will be to provide health education to seniors as well as screening and referral services for substance abuse.

Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human services, education, or related discipline with a Master’s degree preferred.
Skills:
Applicant must possess excellent verbal and written skills and demonstrate good presentation skills. Primary duties will include public speaking, group education and facilitation, managing social media accounts, and providing screening, assessment, brief counseling, and referral services to seniors.

Education/Credential Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Required.
- Master Of Counseling or related discipline preferred.
Work Experience Requirements
- 3 years’ experience providing prevention, education, and intervention services with the older population (55 ) preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) preferred.
Job Duties
- Co- Facilitate the evidenced-based program W.I.S.E. (Wellness Initiative for Senior Education) in select locations across Jefferson County.
- Conduct brief and extended substance use screenings to the older population.
- Provide brief and extended interventions to the older population when indicated.
- Promote and market the WISE Program to organizations that serve the older population.
- Maintain records of program delivery as well as screenings and brief interventions, ensuring fidelity to confidentiality regulations.
- Report statistics monthly to the NYS Office of Addiction Services & Supports (OASAS).
- Attend community tabling events that target the older population.
- Attend & participate in weekly staff and team meetings, including weekly supervision sessions.
- Provide public education and information related to substance use and other issues impacting the older population via social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
- Attend and complete trainings including WISE, SBIRT, Motivational Interviewing, the Transtheoretical Model of Change, Principals of Client Centered Therapy, Prevention Ethics, Substance Abuse Prevention Services Training (SAPST), Cultural Responsiveness, Understanding the Older Population, Substance Use Disorders and any others recommended by Administration.
- Other duties as requested by Supervisor.
