SUMMARY OF JOB: This position within the Pivotal Children’s Unit primarily provides home and community based Infant Mental Health Case Management Services for young children (ages 0-6) and intended to prevent immediate and long-term consequences of aberrant parenting and to strengthen the optimal development of the young child within the context of the family and community. Services are primarily directed at strengthening attachment between parent and child.

Specific Job Functions:

Physical Requirements:
- Requires ability to lift twenty-five pounds.
- Prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate.
- Able to work in/under high stress/pressure environments with productivity standards and expectations.
- Requires coordination and manual dexterity of hands and/or eyes/hand/foot.
- Must be able to work in an office environment with noise from computers, printers, and telephones.
- Must be able to use computer for periods of more than 30 minutes at a time.
- Eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen.
- May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites.
- Regular travel is required for this position.
Job Duties
- Ensures assess referrals and enroll as appropriate, by communicating, listening, speaking, writing, and systems processing.
- Identifies any access needs in families whose infants are at risk for psychosocial or emotional disorders
- Develops service plan & family centered practice to reduce those risks and meet the infant’s and parent’s needs for supportive and developmental infant mental health services
- Provides developmental guidance and information about infant behavior and childcare practices
- Facilitates management of real-life problems including crisis resolution, linkage to community resources, advocacy, facilitation of problem-solving skills, and linkage to informal support systems
- Supports and nurtures the parent as primary caregiver, including attention to parental needs, increase in parental self-esteem and reinforcement of appropriate parent-infant interaction and parental capacity to empathize with infant’s needs.
- Provides collateral treatment with significant others on a time limited basis as needed to achieve state goals
- Develops referral, consultation, and service linkage with physicians, hospitals, public health, protective service, court intermediate school district, school-based programs for adolescent parents, etc. as appropriate.
- Facilitate termination that is respectful and supportive of continuing growth and change by ensuring that parental and infant deficits receive appropriate and effective services.
- Utilizes a consistent reportable procedure for assessing (children 0-3) and parents and evaluating developmental progress, interpretingoutcomes, and attainment of service goals
- Ensures that the child’s needs are well documented, and interventions are documented appropriately,professionally, and timely
- Monitors service delivery and progress
- Coordinates with other human service providers, family physicians, probation officers, and substance abuse counselor, school and service providers as needed.
- Effectively communicates with physicians, psychiatrists, nursing staff, clinicians, other healthcare professionals, and agency department.
- Continually educates the customer about the purpose of service implementation, mutual responsibilities, and potential consequences to noncompliance
- Provide crisis response as needed to ensure that emergent situations are resolved in a timely and appropriate manner with may include referral to an inpatient or alternative placement.
- Follows Company’s Code of Ethics, Corporate compliance guidelines, standards of business conduct and company policies, (such as attendance, punctuality dress code and work ethic)
- Protects client’s rights by maintaining confidentially and reporting complaints, instances of suspected abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of property.
- Attends and participates in staff development function (such as required training and in-services)
- Follow principles of Family Voice and Choice (self-determination)
- Completes annual training log by August 1.
- Reads and answers e-mail each time he/she is in the office. Listens and responds to voice mail within 24 hours of receiving the messages, unless on leave
- Other job-related duties as assigned. These duties may include any assignment that provides for the efficient function of the department.

Pay: $16.79 - $27.00 per hour
