Our partnered client; A well-established and growing organization in the construction and services industry is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and drive strategic financial initiatives. This leadership role requires strong accounting expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to enhance financial efficiency across multiple business entities.
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk assessments
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning
- Ensure compliance with multi-state tax regulations and manage external audits
Operational & Strategic Support:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to improve financial performance and cost management
- Conduct job costing, pricing analysis, and profitability assessments
- Evaluate and provide financial recommendations for capital investments and asset acquisitions
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting
Leadership & Compliance:
- Mentor and lead the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Stay updated on industry trends, financial regulations, and best practices
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5-7 years of Controller experience, preferably in construction, services, or related industries
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA or CMA designation
- Experience working with multiple company entities within multiple states
- Experience managing financial audits and tax compliance in a multi-entity environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines
- Note that this role is located East of Kansas City
