Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Associate of Investment Analytics to join our dynamic investment team at Pivotal Life Sciences. While at its core this is an investment role, a successful candidate will also bring computational biology, AI, data science, or similar quantitative/programming skills that can be leveraged to drive informed investment decisions in the therapeutic sector. You will play a crucial role in assessing investment opportunities, analyzing market trends, and collaborating closely with our data science team to develop AI-driven tools that enhance investment decision making and returns. For an exceptional candidate with prior investment experience this could potentially be a Vice President rather than Senior Associate position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present detailed investment theses, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees
- Conduct and summarize due diligence evaluating the scientific/technical, clinical, regulatory, and commercial aspects of potential investments
- Evaluate market trends, competitive landscapes, and scientific advancements to identify high-potential investment opportunities
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and modeling to assess the viability of potential investments in therapeutics companies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science and software engineering, to integrate advanced analytics and AI solutions into investment decision making processes
- Build relationships with industry experts, portfolio companies, and other stakeholders to gather insights and foster collaboration
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements relevant to biotech and healthcare investments
Requirements:
- PhD, MD, or other advanced degree in life sciences
- 2-5 years’ relevant work experience in a role that involves financial modeling and investment analysis in the biotech or healthcare sectors, such as biotech or healthcare investment banking/equity research, healthcare strategy consulting, or business development at a life sciences company
- Demonstrated skills in computational biology, AI, data science, or similar that can be applied to investment decision making. Prior experience applying one or more of these skills to investment diligence is a plus
- Solid understanding of biotechnology, biology, and therapeutic development processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving, communications, and presentation skills
- Fluency in English
- Ability to lead and mentor others
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US and will not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Work Schedule
Hybrid work schedule: Minimum 4 days per week in the San Francisco office with the option to work remotely 1 day per week.
Base Salary Range: $165,000-$250,000 base depending on experience
Only candidates that live in the Bay Area will be considered (relocation package not offered)
Bonus: Annual performance bonus
Total Comp package: $200,000-$300,000
