The Platform Engineering team within Pixar Software R&D builds and maintains the development infrastructure that underpins the Studio’s software release process, as well as critical aspects of the film production pipeline. This infrastructure is the foundation for development and release of both Pixar’s proprietary animation software and the open source OpenUSD project.The team is growing to expand OpenUSD’s development infrastructure to support USD’s continued evolution. We are looking for candidates with a deep understanding of software application engineering, the ability to collaborate in a large cross-functional team of developers, and skill in crafting robust, easy to maintain software systems.Responsibilities : Design, implement, test, and maintain robust pipeline software within a Linux environmentBuild and support tools for testing, ensuring high-quality software through automated and manual testsDevelop user interfaces and frontend components as neededCollaborate within a wider team consisting of Build and QA engineers, Designers, and Project ManagersQuickly respond and proactively investigate requests coming from usersParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and team meetingsRequirements : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree programProfessional experience building APIs and applications in PythonExperience with GUI design and programmingStrong software engineering and testing skills including proficiency in API designAbility to trouble-shoot with a high attention to detail and qualityExperience with systems programming in a UNIX / Linux environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPrevious experience collaborating to deliver high-quality softwareProven track record to work with both technical and non-technical software usersPreferred Experience : Experience with Animation or VFX pipelinesKnowledge of Pixar’s OpenUSD (Open Universal Scene Description)Experience with writing, building, and debugging C applicationsFamiliarity with build automation tools and continuous integration systemsExperience with version control systems (Git / GitLab)Previous experience working with Docker, Kubernetes or other container orchestration platformsThe hiring range for this position in Emeryville is $143,140.00 to $185,240.00 per year.
