Description of Position:

Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, this position if responsible for the general supervision and management of a class of up to 24 children ages 6 weeks through 12 years.The position requires the planning and execution of the educational program in accordance with the purpose and goals of Hansel & Gretel, Inc.

Sample Responsibilities and Duties:

• Monitoring and ensuring wellbeing, security, safety, health and housekeeping standards (i.e. meal preparation; signs of illness; emergency situations, etc.) including making appropriate referrals.
• Plan both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
• Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
• Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning.
• Coordinate field trips.
• Prepare monthly activity (lesson) plans charts.
• Maintain and complete bi-annual assessment of children's development.
• Work with parents to promote understanding of their child’s growth and development.Report progress of children to parents in bi-annual reports and through parent-teacher conferences.
• Encourage parent participation in school programs.
• Maintain daily open communication with parents
• Keep accident reports
• Maintain anecdotal records
• Maintain confidentiality
• Report any suspect abuse to supervisor.
• Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment and supervise all activities.
• Inspect, Maintain and replace damaged or lost materials.
• Effectively train, supervise and utilize classroom assistants and floaters.
• Attend in-service and staff meetings.
• Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance and time sheets.
• Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
• Meal counts

Minimum Requirements:

Teacher, Master, Site Supervisor or Program Director Teacher Permit from Local Credentialing office.

Infant/Toddler Teachers must complete a minimum of 3 units in infant/toddler care and curriculum.
