Position Summary
The Traveling General Manager is a unique and vital role within Gravy Train’s Pizza Ranch franchise. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for leadership. The Traveling GM will be responsible for supporting various locations across Iowa and Illinois, stepping in as needed to manage operations, train and develop teams, and ensure each restaurant is upholding Pizza Ranch’s legendary standards.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys traveling, and excels at problem-solving and team development. The Traveling GM will work closely with the District Manager to support locations that need additional leadership due to transitions, training needs, or other operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Travel to designated Pizza Ranch locations to provide temporary leadership and support.
- Ensure each location operates efficiently, upholding Pizza Ranch’s food quality, service, and cleanliness standards.
- Lead and support restaurant teams in meeting sales, profitability, and guest satisfaction goals.
- Adapt quickly to different team environments, identifying and addressing operational challenges.
Training & Development:
- Train and develop new and existing General Managers, Assistant Managers, and team members.
- Provide on-site coaching to improve operational execution, guest service, and leadership effectiveness.
- Assist with onboarding and training new leaders within the franchise.
Guest Experience & Community Engagement:
- Ensure a legendary guest experience at each location through proper training and implementation of Pizza Ranch’s service standards.
- Work with local teams to build strong community connections, support fundraising efforts, and foster a positive reputation in each market.
Business & Financial Management:
- Support stores in achieving financial goals by managing food and labor costs effectively.
- Analyze store performance and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and food safety standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Passion for leading and developing people.
- 3-5 years of restaurant management experience, preferably in multi-unit or traveling roles.
- Ability to travel regularly across Iowa and Illinois
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly.
- Effective communicator with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in basic computer skills and restaurant management software.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Business acumen with a strong focus on financial and operational performance.
