Job Overview
The Robotics Technician will be responsible for the following activities: PJ is seeking a highly motivated Robot Technician to sustain and maintain robotic equipment at Sumner, TX. The best candidate for the position has a high aptitude to learn new skillsets in the position. The expectation is that technician will start with strengths in a given field (general mechanical maintenance, robotic maintenance, robotic programming, PLC Programming, ect…) and then learn all other areas from those who work with them. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all parts of the automated equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Sustain robotic production operations through responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance on robotic equipment to ensure top operational efficiency.
- Help develop and improve equipment validation procedures including calibration and qualification.
- Inspect and maintain all System Related safety devices for proper function prior to start up of the system.
- Takes initiative to create, implement, and improve Preventative and Predictive Maintenance documents and schedules.
- Program ladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms (Allen-Bradley/Siemens/Omron). Program and teach industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc/OTC) Sequence complex, multi-station machinery for material pickand-place, dispense, fastening, welding (Miller/Lincoln) and conveyance applications.
- Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, improvement working with facility leader regarding components and communicate needs to the vendor.
- Train internal team to support automated equipment after project deployment.
- Report performance trends/issues to management and recommend solutions.
- Help develop standard operating procedures and train personnel on all new systems.
- Monitor all Critical to Quality process settings on the PLC’s, Robots, Welder, Material Handlers, etc…
- Work with equipment vendors as needed to resolve machine, material, and process issues.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to all other technicians, operators, and plant personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum High School Diploma and/or technical school skill such as Manufacturing Systems and Technology, Industrial Robotics, Digital Electronics and Circuits, or similar.
- 2 - 5 years of experience working with automated system equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience programming and troubleshoot PLCs, Robots and Welders (preferably Rockwell, Fanuc & Miller)
- Experience in design, operation, and maintenance of industrial control systems.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience commissioning and improving Equipment. Have a demonstrated track record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Able to utilize structured problemsolving techniques. Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions.
- Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools as well as general machining.
- Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to safely start-up, operate and shut down manufacturing related equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills, persistence, good judgment, and attention to detail.
- Consistently demonstrates highest level of personal ethical conduct.
- Results driven with emphasis on keeping customer and business commitments.
- A demonstrated thirst for knowledge and a desire to grow both professionally & personally.

- Position to pay between $40 - $50 an hour based on experience.
