POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Engineer Intern assists Project Engineers and Managers in managing construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities. PKG Project Engineers Interns work directly with Superintendents and other field personnel to support construction activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Interpret plans and specifications for water/wastewater treatment facilities.
- Assist in the estimation of concrete, structural steel, earthwork, process piping, and architectural elements for water/wastewater projects.
- Acquire and review project submittals.
- Create logs to better manage various aspects of the project.
- Work with vendors on small orders and deliveries.
- Assist in inventory of material.
- Conduct field observations and inspections in compliance with project requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Construction experience preferred.
SYSTEM QUALIFICATIONS
- AutoCad, Blubeam, and Microsoft Office experience preferred.
- Trimble Business Center, Total Station, Basin Rover, Site Works, Earth Works, GCS 900, SCS 900 Experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hand and arms above their shoulders.
- Must be able to exert up to 10-20 lbs. constantly to move objects, 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Hardhat, High-Visibility Vest, Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.
