JOB SUMMARY:
The Laboratory Technician position involves performing precise analytical testing in a laboratory setting, supporting the analysis of water, raw materials, in-process, and finished products. The role requires hands-on experience with analytical instruments such as GC, FTIR, UV/Vis, and ICP, as well as familiarity with standard laboratory practices, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines (cGMPs, cGLPs, GDPs, SOPs).
Work Schedule: Friday, Satruday, Sunday 6a - 6:30p
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, or 2-3 years of hands-on testing experience in a chemistry laboratory environment.
- Solid foundation in analytical techniques, with preferred experience in sample preparation and operation of analytical equipment and software.
- Proficiency with analytical instruments such as GC, FTIR, UV/Vis, ICP, and others.
- Strong adherence to good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility in work hours and availability.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform accurate and well-documented analyses to support testing of water, raw materials, in-process, and finished products, as well as stability and investigational samples, following established lab procedures and utilizing appropriate equipment.
- Prepare test and volumetric solutions; conduct assigned laboratory tests using standard methods and established procedures, ensuring adherence to lab safety protocols and proper documentation.
- Calibrate analytical balances, pH meters, and similar equipment daily, following standard procedures.
- Verify and record temperatures of laboratory equipment.
- Provide regular updates to the Lab Supervisor on the status of sample analyses, including raw materials, in-process, finished products, stability, and investigational samples, and promptly report any out-of-specification or questionable test results.
- Assist in organizing and cleaning the laboratory, performing all housekeeping tasks as required.
- Properly manage lab waste by transferring materials to hazardous waste accumulation containers and drums for disposal.
- Adhere to FDA cGMPs, cGLPs, GDPs, SOPs, Test Methods, USP standards, and other recognized regulations.
- Follow safety data sheets (SDS) guidelines for handling hazardous chemicals.
- Work under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor or Chemist.
- Organize raw materials, in-process, finished goods, and stability samples for QC testing, and ensure proper documentation of test data.
- Perform all aspects of test methods, including solution preparation, equipment maintenance and calibration, sample preparation, result interpretation, and statistical analysis, while maintaining proper documentation.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining retain samples of production materials, and help manage the inventory of raw material samples.
- Complete daily laboratory assignments and projects on time, demonstrating flexibility with shifts and additional hours as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Capable of performing tasks that require manual dexterity and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- This position is primarily sedentary, working at a desk or in attending meetings.
- Work safely and adhere to all OSHA regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures.
- Work in a manufacturing environment, when necessary.
- Must be able to wear proper gowning and PPE in manufacturing areas as required to meet GMP and/or OSHA requirements.
- May be exposed to moderate noise levels, in manufacturing areas.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk short distances for long period of time.
