SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the warehouse facility is kept clean, safe, and in excellent condition. This role involves performing routine custodial duties, minor maintenance, and various tasks to maintain a sanitary and organized environment. The custodian will work independently and in coordination with warehouse staff to address any safety hazards and maintain a functional, well maintained facility.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am-4pm
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or maintenance roles preferred.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in an /warehouse setting.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, tools, and safety protocols.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that PLD facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner
- Empty and clean wastebaskets and containers, remove trash; empty and clean ashtrays
- Clean, strip, wax, and buff hard surface floors with walk-behind floor scrubber and ride-on floor scrubber
- Sweep aisles and remove any debris properly (i.e. broken pallets, shrink wrap)
- Do a perimeter check around the warehouse and remove any objects that are not in the proper place (i.e. brooms, plastic wrap etc.)
- Perform various maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and repairing/cleaning minor fixtures, putting together furniture/cabinets and bug zappers
- Installing and removing guard railings as needed
- Perform outdoor cleaning activities such as removing debris from sidewalks, grass, parking lot, entrances and docks; includes overhead work on ladders.
- Pressure wash entrances and doors.
- Section off unsafe conditions in work area and report any hazardous conditions to supervisor immediately
- Perform painting tasks as necessary (directed by management)
- Clean loading docks and dock doors
- Wipe down rails and racks
- Help replace damaged racks
- Work cooperatively with all warehouse employees
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to operate hand, power and bench tools.
- Requires physical stamina, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Exposure to warehouse equipment and materials (e.g., forklifts, pallets, machinery).
- May be exposed to different weather conditions while maintaining outdoor areas.
- Must be able to drive between the two Duncan facilities.
