Project Accountant – General Contracting Division – Accounting Department
We have an immediate need for a Project Accountant in our Shared Services Division to be based out of our Canton, GA office location.
The Project Accountant will support projects with overall accounting and financial activities and monitor project financial performance.

What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and distribute monthly reports on project status including budget and forecasting for project reviews.
- Coordinate with the project team to reflect changes in project scope or timeline.
- Assist the operations team to efficiently handle all details of the project including communications with the contractors and vendors, reviews invoices, and ensure contract requirements are met.
- Establish reliable lines of communication with the Project Management team to ensure all Purchase Requisitions are entered accurately into the accounting system.
- Assist Project Coordinators with follow-up on any aspects associated with the project reconciliation to help resolve obstacles that could keep the project from billing.
- Research prior projects assigned and reconcile as needed.
- Communicate with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare final invoice for project managers to review with customers for final payment.
- Change Order review and input into the workbook system.
- Work with Finance and Accounting departments on issue resolution of invoices to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Monitor and control project budgets, identifying any cost overruns and suggesting corrective actions to keep projects within financial limits.
- Work with project managers to improve project cash flow by reducing the average collection period on receivables and optimizing payment schedules to align with project milestones.
- Perform ad hoc requests.

What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience in accounting or finance.
- 2-3 years project management and/or construction accounting experience
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in QuickBooks is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills include compiling, sorting, and amending documents.
- Must be an effective communicator and team player.
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate information or possible resolutions in a concise and timely manner.
- Fosters a positive work environment with both external and internal customers through demonstration of strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision; data entry skills and attention to detail required.
- Solid mathematical skills and ability to reconcile project costs and margins
- Knowledge of engineering, architectural and construction invoice processing procedures and project accounting.
