The Safety Director is a strategic, hands-on safety expert with deep experience in commercial construction who thrives in the field and is passionate about cultivating a safety-first culture. This person is a visible presence on job sites, connecting directly with crews, leading by example, and instilling a sense of shared responsibility for safety.

The right candidate will be a trusted partner to superintendents, project managers, and executive leadership — aligning safety initiatives with operational goals to deliver consistent, safe project execution.

What You’ll Do:
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive safety program tailored to PSI’s field operations, with clear metrics to measure effectiveness.
- Conduct frequent job site safety audits and inspections to ensure full compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
- Develop and deliver engaging, practical safety training programs for all levels of field staff, from onboarding to ongoing education.
- Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventative measures.
- Create and maintain project-specific safety and emergency action plans (JSA’s & EAPs), customized for each job site.
- Monitor and enforce subcontractor safety performance, ensuring alignment with PSI safety standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to proactively identify and mitigate job site risks.
- Analyze trends in safety performance and generate monthly safety reports for leadership review.
- Lead weekly toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and other high-visibility safety initiatives.
- Maintain all safety-related documentation, including training records, inspection logs, incident reports, and OSHA logs.
- Recommend and administer corrective actions or disciplinary measures when safety violations occur.
- Stay current on changes to OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, and local/state safety codes, updating internal protocols accordingly.
- Represent PSI in external safety audits or inspections and manage regulatory agency interactions.
- Mentor and develop field-based safety personnel to support professional growth and consistency across regions.
What You Bring:
- 7 years of experience in construction safety management, with a strong emphasis on commercial construction.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification required; OSHA 510/500, CHST, or CSP preferred.
- Demonstrated success in designing and implementing field-level safety programs with measurable results.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 & 1910, EPA regulations, and industry-specific safety standards.
- Proven ability to lead incident investigations, compile reports, and develop thorough corrective action plans.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of delivering impactful training material and toolbox talks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management platforms (e.g., Procore Safety, iAuditor, Predictive Solutions, Cority, BBS, etc).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly to job sites across PSI’s project footprint.
- Travel can be up to 33% to ensure engagement and alignment with field teams.
