Logistics Specialist
Your Mission : As a Logistics Specialist, you will be a key player in managing Placon's transportation needs to ensure cost-effectiveness and high service levels. You'll act as a bridge between various teams to ensure seamless and timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities :
Transportation Management
1. Evaluate shipment logistics and special requirements to determine the optimal
routing.
2. Manage load dispatch to carriers and confirm their acceptance.
3. Use our Transportation Management System for efficient routing, tendering,
tracking, and reporting.
4. Confirm and organize inbound appointments, keeping Oracle updated.
Cost and Rate Management
1. Confirm shipment rates and review freight bills for accuracy.
2. Ensure billing accuracy, approve payments, and code to correct GL accounts.
Driver and Delivery Management
1. Oversee contract and delivery drivers.
2. Work with planning to schedule and manage bulk deliveries.
3. Receive rail inventory into Oracle upon shipment of the rail car.
Customer Service
1. Provide shipment details and handle any exceptions.
2. Ensure timely proof of delivery as needed.
3. Uphold high-quality customer service standards.
Issue Resolution
1. Address and resolve carrier and delivery challenges.
2. Manage overage, shortage, and damage (OS&D) claims.
3. Work with Customer Service on coordinating and routing Return Merchandise
Authorizations (RMAs).
Data Management and Reporting
1. Keep freight databases updated.
2. Compile KPI reports and carrier scorecards.
3. Provide insights and recommend improvements based on data analysis.
Collaboration and Professional Development
1. Meet with carrier representatives to resolve issues and explore new solutions.
2. Investigate new programs, pricing, and systems.
3. Attend workshops and stay current with industry publications.
4. Work cross-functionally to solve problems and contribute to team efforts.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or 1 year
of experience in transportation / logistics or a similar combination of experience
and education.
