What are the responsibilities and job description for the Print Operating Technician position at Placon Corporation?
Under the general guidance of the Production Shift Leader, set-up machine and run against established guidelines. Operate equipment at or above standard rates. Audit and maintain Print Quality. Follow procedures and maintain equipment for the printing process.
Essential Accountabilities
Machine operation
- Must be able to meet all Pack Tech level 1 tasks and responsibilities.
- Operate machines at or above standard rates and pack parts according to specification.
- Change over press and set up print within established times while ensuring production rates, scrap rates and downtime are within established standards.
- Ability to set up and operate vision system
- Ability to use E-stop, feed section, label section, unload section, packing section on all label machines without assistance
- Must be able to receive, issue and maintain of all cup & lid labels in storage area
- Machine readiness - Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of the label machinery, equipment and facility.
- Identify issues which adversely affect print quality and communicate with appropriate department personnel for resolution.
- Quickly Identify label quality issues and correct/work with Print Operations Leader for resolution.
Quality
- Ensure print quality meets established standards
- Perform housekeeping duties
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices
Communication
- Complete all shift documentation/paperwork
- Shift hand-off - go over job status and updates with incoming shift
Safety
- Participate in safety programs
- Follow all established safety procedures
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year manufacturing or related experience;
- Meet all Pack Tech level 1 requirements
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to read, write and speak English to meet training, safety and quality requirements.
- Ability to identify minor color variations in product
Desired Skills
- Experience operating dry offset printing equipment;
- Organization and time management;
- Computer and software skills;
- Knowledge of quality control principles and Statistical Process Control,
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting

Inside: Good Manufacturing Procedures/American Institute of Bakers certified manufacturing environment

Van Dam, Kase, R & D Print Press, Label Press, PC, Pallet Jack, basic hand tools, personal computer, Oracle
Physical Requirements:
Light work (lift 10 lbs): continuously - cases of product and hand tools
Medium Work (lift 11-30 lbs.): regularly - cases of product, print mandrels and pallets Heavy Work (lift 31-50 lbs.): occasionally - cases of product, print mandrels and pallets
Extreme Work (lift 51-75 lbs.): occasionally - print mandrels Other Physical Requirements: Bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, twisting, standing for long periods of time; ability to identify color variations
