Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team at a PLAE. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs, preparing estimates, and supporting the salesprocess. Your primary responsibility will be to utilize Callidus estimating software to generate comprehensive and precise cost estimates for flooring installations and fitness equipment projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of flooring materials, labor, and installation processes.
Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Analysis:
- Utilize Callidus estimating software to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for flooring installations and fitness equipment projects.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to determine project requirements and scope.
- Conduct material takeoffs and estimate quantities for flooring materials, fitness equipment, and associated items.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to determine the most competitive pricing for project components.
Budgeting and Pricing:
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to establish project budgets and pricing strategies.
- Assess project risks and factors that may impact costs, such as material availability, labor rates, and project timelines.
- Provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and value engineering opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
Bid Preparation and Support:
- Support the bid management process by preparing accurate and competitive bid proposals.
- Collaborate with the project team to review bid documents, including plans, specifications, and addendums.
- Coordinate with buyers, installers, and other vendors to obtain quotes and gather relevant pricing information.
- Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns and pricing summaries for bid submissions.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain organized records of cost estimates, pricing data, and project documentation.
- Ensure all estimates are properly documented, named, and stored in accordance with company standards.
- Generate reports and summaries to provide project stakeholders with cost analysis, comparisons, and recommendations.
- Update and revise cost estimates as needed to reflect design changes, scope modifications, and project updates.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and pricing fluctuations to maintain accurate estimating practices.
- Seek opportunities to improve estimating processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Collaborate with the estimating team and other departments to share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, or a related field. Relevant certifications or technical diplomas are a plus.
- Preferable experience in flooring and fitness equipment projects but not required.
- Proficiency in Callidus estimating software or similar estimating tools.
- Strong knowledge of flooring materials, installation techniques, fitness equipment, and associated costs.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret project specifications and calculate accurate estimates.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in estimating work.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to assess project requirements and identify cost drivers.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of construction industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Familiarity with other estimating software and tools is a plus.
