QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
SUPERVISES:
Custodial Helpers / Student Custodians
JOB GOAL:
Work with Head Custodian and Principal to provide a clean,
safe educational environment for all students
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance
with the Board’s policy on
Evaluation of Classified Personnel
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES :
*Clean (exhibit good housekeeping skills), check (include: lights,
windows, doors, set alarm secure building, etc.) and secure
assigned areas such as classrooms, stairways, halls,
restrooms, locker rooms as required/directed
*Report regularly at assigned time
*Shall deviate from assigned work schedule only as requested
by supervisor
*Wash windows; clean furniture, rugs, and carpeting;
scrub/wax floors
*Mow, trim, and clean around building, shrubs and plants,
and assist with repairs on playground equipment, fences,
septic system, athletic fields, etc.
*Repair furniture and tools, by replacing screws, glides, etc.,
as needed
*Clear walks and entrances, shovel snow, remove ice and
debris, as needed
*Assist in setting up gym or other areas for activities such as
assemblies, programs,athletic, or intramural events as
required and/or directed
*Give proper care and preventive maintenance of all equipment
as needed
*Report, in writing to the Head Custodian, irregularities,
malfunctioning equipment, or problems or as needed
*Assist with summer maintenance by conducting preventive
maintenance, and maintaining the exterior and interior
of school buildings/structures
*Repair and assist in repairs of district buildings and equipment,
including roofs, windows, heating system, plumbing system, etc.
*Occasional work with equipment/devices involving electricity,
natural gas, & hydraulic fluids, such as electric floor scrubbers,
& other cleaning equipment
*Participate in training programs as required by the District
*Deal with occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids
*Deal with students in a friendly manner, even the occasional
unruly student
*Comply with all Plain Local Board of Education policies and
procedures
*Perform other duties as directed
