    Essential Functions:

    • Administers district policies regarding use of computers and data access (e.g. updating virus software, set passwords, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with district policy and departmental guidelines.
    • Assesses malfunctions of computer hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.
    • Attends school site and departmental meetings for the purpose of providing and/or gathering information relating to job functions.
    • Coordinates repair work schedules with school and district office personnel for the purpose of minimizing disruption of services and/or inconvenience.
    • Diagnoses equipment failures for the purpose of identifying needed repairs and/or ensuring equipment is in proper working order.
    • Implements new software and system applications for the purpose of addressing organizational needs and providing operational capabilities to users.
    • Installs computer hardware, peripherals, network equipment and application software (e.g. adjusting, repairing, replacing parts, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operation including classrooms, library and computer labs.
    • Installs MAC and PC servers, print drivers, scanners, etc. for the purpose of ensuring availability for use by District personnel.
    • Interacts with the District network for the purpose of installing, configuring and troubleshooting work stations.
    • Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. preventive maintenance, purchases, inspections, repair logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, conveying information and/or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
    • Maintains workstation functionality (e.g. install patches and/or upgrades, maintain images, support Active Directory, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of desktop and server functionality for all users.
    • Monitors the status of the District's wide area network for the purpose of ensuring availability of network files and peripheral devices.
    • Oversees assigned work activities and/or projects for the purpose of providing guidance and support to other staff and to ensure completion of projects within established guidelines.
    • Performs initial workstation computer and peripheral set-ups (e.g. installation, testing, configuring, assigning passwords, security clearances, imaging, etc.) for the purpose of meeting the computer processing needs of the users.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    • Prepares written materials (e.g. status reports, instructions, user guides, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
    • Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
    • Provides training and inservice in general computer use, software applications and file server operations for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of computers and/or software applications.
    • Repairs computers, peripherals, network equipment and software, requiring specialized computer and electronics repair skills both on-site and in the repair shop for the purpose of maintaining computer and network equipment in a safe and functional operating condition.

    • Requests quotations for the purpose of providing cost information, purchasing and securing items.
    • Researches a variety of topics for the purpose of making recommendations regarding vendors to use for repairs and/or supplies.
    • Responds to a variety of questions from site staff and students for the purpose of providing information, guidance or referral.
    • Responds to requests for help, repairs, training, and/or upgrades, etc. by telephone or email for the purpose of providing information, scheduling appointments and/or referring to alternate resources.
    • Supports classroom activities for technology related classes (e.g. Applied Technology, Performing Arts, Library Media Center and Telecommunications, etc.) for the purpose of providing information regarding procedures, processes and safety.
    • Trains selected personnel for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing processes.
    • Transports a variety of items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job site or to bring equipment in for repairs.
    • Troubleshoots application software for the purpose of isolating bugs and resolving issues and/or providing user training.
    • Troubleshoots user issues with computer workstations (e.g. questions about application software, connectivity issues, peripheral malfunctions, etc.) for the purpose of providing immediate assistance to users for problem resolution.
    • Tutors school site staff (via telephone and in person) on functions and operating requirements of district supported software applications and peripheral equipment for the purpose of providing ongoing support and maximizing the capabilities of district staff.
    • Upgrades computers, peripherals, network equipment and software applications (e.g. installation, testing, configuring, etc.) for the purpose of meeting the computer processing needs of the users.
    • Warehouses computer parts, supplies and materials for the purpose of establishing an inventory of items commonly required to repair computer hardware.
    Minimum Qualifications:

    SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing pertinent software applications; analyzing; customer service; effective listening; guiding others; interpersonal aptitude; leadership; managing projects/programs; monitoring activities; operating equipment; planning; problem solving; recordkeeping; training; and use of technology.
    KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent's, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based corn petencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of electronics; photoelectric process; current generation operating systems and network protocols;
    current and emerging technology; and office equipment/software.
    ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant.     Responsibility
    Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.

    Working Environment
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 25% walking, and 15% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.

    Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
