What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk - Ottawa Street Pool position at Plainfield Park District?
The front desk employee is responsible for registering patrons for pool related programs, handling admissions into the facility, and performing opening and closing duties.
Starting hourly rate is $15.00 per hour
General Information for all Pool positions
The Pool season is from May - August 2025
Hours vary between 8 : 00am and 9 : 00pm depending upon programs and events. Shifts may vary.
Candidates will be interviewed and may be selected for a pool position based upon candidates' qualifications.
The pool environment is an outdoor setting. Staff will be exposed to weather conditions, including cold, rain, and extreme heat. Inclement weather is monitored daily and safety precautions taken when necessary.
Interviews will take place in March. If you are away at school, please indicate on your application the dates of your winter and / or spring break to assist us in scheduling interviews
Pool staff training dates will be held in May prior to the pool opening; dates will be reviewed during the interview process.

Ability to work independently or with limited direction.
Provide consistent customer service to all park district patrons while completing daily responsibilities : admission sales, registration for programming, and telephone inquiries.
Enforce general pool rules in all common pool areas; collect and retain prohibited objects for patrons while on pool grounds, and dispel loitering around the counter area
Maintain an orderly and clean office area
Promptly open and close pool doors according to scheduled hours of operation.
Responsible for cash handling tasks including operating register / computer and totaling sales receipts for day / shift according to procedures
Maintain accurate records for attendance, ticket sales and programming as directed by Pool Manager.
Assists in the maintenance / care of the equipment, facilities and environment including cleaning duties.
Maintain and carry out all Plainfield Park District's rules and regulations.
Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules. Strictly enforce all general safety rules and improve public and employee knowledge by preventing, confronting and correcting unsafe behavior.
Recognize, report, and respond to any unsafe conditions and possible or definite pool hazards.
Inform Pool Manager of any pertinent information regarding the facility or swim program; incidents should be reported immediately.
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while performing duties and while on park premises.
Continue education by attending staff meetings and training sessions.
Performs any additional related tasks as required
Requirements
Must be 16 years of age.
C.P.R. and First Aid Certification required; ability to certify at time of hire.
Must have working knowledge of money concepts.
Must have computer skills and ability to learn registration software and point of sale program.
Must be detail oriented to be able to process information accurately.
Must be able to deliver good customer service to the public and work well with other staff.
Ability to follow direction and work independently.
