Plains Grain & Agronomy Cooperative seeks a self-motivated, organized, professional applicant for our Company. The following position will be responsible for developing their skills in grain merchandising and origination, while also assisting with additional tasks related to the purchase and sale of grain.
Job Responsibilities: Duties include and are not limited to:
- Purchase grain from producers and maintain competitive, service-oriented relationships.
- Travel to farms and meet with producers to build relationships, discuss market strategies, and understand their operations and needs.
- Interpret and simplify complex grain market information to help producers make informed marketing decisions.
- Assist with daily grain operations, including origination, logistics and accounting.
- Act as the point of contact for customers to facilitate business transactions and resolve any issues.
- Assist with grain accounting, including contract entry, grain inventory, and hedging activity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, economics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (face-to-face, phone, email, text) with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships.
- Excellent organizational, problem solving, and negotiating skills.
- A strong interest in agriculture, commodities, and trading.
- Must hold valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift minimum 50lbs.
Preferred Skills / Experience / Certifications:
- Knowledge of Agvance and Kahler software.
