General Responsibilities:
We are seeking a full-time Construction Manager who will be responsible for ensuring a seamless process managing, coordinating, and directing all construction efforts for new club builds and remodels. The Construction Manager will ensure clubs are built per Planet Fitness’ standards, and strict adherence to design plans and specifications while keeping the project on budget and on schedule; ensuring that design and brand standards are met through all phases of construction. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the company and will work closely with the Director of Construction and Facilities as well as other cross-functional team members.
This position is located in Boston, Monday - Thursday in office, Friday WFH
Responsibilities
- Construction Management
- Manages, monitors, and drives the construction process for new club builds, relocations and remodels ensuring on-time completion within set budget and timeframe including a smooth transition to the operations team.
- Ensures strict adherence to Plant Fitness brand elements & prototypical standards for all new builds, expansions, relocations, and remodels.
- Directs contractors & subcontractors and coordinates all phases of construction.
- Conducts regular site visits to ensure that workmanship conforms to brand specifications and projects adhere to construction schedules.
- Provides weekly project status reports
- Site Surveys & Scopes of Work
- Performs survey of potential club sites, develops scope-of-work, and creates budget for new club construction.
- Reviews, corrects, and provides feedback on design documents to AOR for assigned projects.
- Conducts onsite bid walks, manages RFIs during bid process, reviews and qualifies bids received to ensure coverage of specified scope of work.
- Administrative
- Coordinates with AOR and municipalities as needed to ensure issuance of all required permits and certificates of occupancy.
- Coordinates and works cross-functionally with the Operations team as well as other departments as regards the progress of all projects.
- Reviews and approves pay applications from contractors and vendors.
- Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (Construction Management preferred) or 3 to 5 years of construction management experience.
- Ability to identify, evaluate and solve construction-related issues for all assigned projects.
- Excellent interpersonal & written/oral communication skills.
- Drive and initiative to anticipate, identify, solve, and follow through on problems and the ability to act independently to achieve results with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Adaptable and must work successfully in a team environment, building and maintaining effective working relationships with a diverse group of contributors internally and externally.
- Must be a self-starter, highly organized, flexible, and able to adjust to constant change.
- Capability to multi-task in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- 70% travel is required throughout Southwest Florida, Northeast Georgia, Oregon, Puerto Rico, and Ontario Canada.
